Sometimes photos say more than moving images, A still image can be studied in detail, whereas moving images, which is what I work with on a set, are a sequence of many images.

For both disciplines however, it remains important to capture that one moment. The best position, the right lens, an exciting frame, beautiful light. That always remains a challenge. I take during a shooting day stills and behind-the-scenes photos on set in between takes. Unfortunately, on busy and packed shooting days, photos sometimes get overlooked, because the priority as Director of Photography is, at all time: those moving “pictures”

In my free time, I seek the tranquillity of nature, a complete different dynamic than a film set, and it has a calming effect on body and mind. which is a nice counterbalance to the hustle and bustle during productions. On these trips, the filmcamera stays at home, but the still camera always comes along… A bit of ‘working” after all.
